Computer Science and Studio Art Come Together on Designer's Site

A student who is earning a degree in computer science and minoring in studio art has combined their passions into a website that also functions as a digital art portfolio. The are doing this as a personal project, but it may count toward their graduation requirements in the future. On their site, they used their photographs as a way to build interest in their creative and coding services. The person has several series of photographs, including Miami Vice.

This person wanted to get some feedback on how the site looks and functions, so they posted a link to it in a large online web development forum. This forum has tens of thousands of members, all of them with differing degrees of design expertise and specialized niches. This person hoped they could get some useful feedback about how to improve the layout and navigation of the site. They were also hoping for some additional feedback that they could use in order to optimize the site for the mobile environment.

A lot of people who took a look at the site got distracted from the coding and layout by the beautiful photography. People liked the original poster's creative work, and they had a lot of accolades to give to the designer. Some people just forgot to give any feedback about the user interface and navigation because they liked the art so much.

Some people did manage to not get too distracted by the designer's artwork. They found a few issues that were mostly related to the mobile environment and how the site displays. One person said that the menu button and text were too big, and a different person said that the text on the about me area was too small.

A few people also had comments about the images taking a long time to load. In a few cases, the text overlaid onto the images did not display well. These people offered some tips to the original poster on how they could make site updates for a better user experience. The original designer thanked everyone for the feedback and implemented it.
