Design Valley Club: Does Free Really Mean Not Worth It?

A web designer wanted to share an online resource they found. This resource is called Design Valley Club. It is a free resource library for different design styles. Some of the design styles include icons, stock images, stock videos and website templates. They also include animated icons for visual interest. The site also features fonts, illustrations, design systems, colors and gradients. The tools on the site range from design and color to presentation, animation, creative and mock-up. Finally, the design repository offers web accessibility kits, user flow tools and user interface tools. The original poster wanted to know what other design professionals thought about this free resource library.

One person replied to say that most of the designs on the site cannot be accessed by using control click. Another person added that a right click also does not work if a person wants to open the link in a new tab. One additional person noted a problem with the middle mouse button, and someone else added that tab does not navigate to the main content. All of these issues put together create a lot of accessibility problems. They frustrate the user and make the user not want to return. A site that focuses on design should be easy to navigate.

Another person took a look at the resource library and noted that the user has to click on the name of the resource rather than the thumb nail for it. This person pointed out that it would not be a difficult thing to make the icon open a link to that resource if the visitor clicks on the icon.

A few people commented on other accessibility issues related to the site. One major problem was the yellow and white background. They noted that more contrast is needed in order to accommodate people who have low vision or colorblindness. Others noted how hard the site was on their eyes.
