DESIGNERS! You need to hear this....
It's okay not to like design. It's okay if you arent aware of what you're doing in Photoshop or Illustrator. It doesn't make you a bad person; it makes you human. Designers are humans too, and sometimes they need help with their work too. With these tips for designers, maybe the next time someone asks, "How do I stop hating design?" You'll be able to explain to them exactly how to stop feeling that way.
1) Embrace your mistakes- There is no such thing as an ugly mistake. Every mistake can teach us something new about ourselves or our process when we take the time to analyze them properly. The more we are willing to embrace our mistakes, the less likely they will happen again.
2) Give yourself a break- You are not perfect. You did your best, and you can do better, but that doesn't mean you have to keep beating yourself up over it. You often need to take a break and do something else.
3) Find a mentor- Sometimes, we just need some guidance, and that's where mentors can come in handy. They're able to help us grow and solve problems without having the pressure of doing it themselves.
4) Don't be afraid to ask for help- Asking questions is okay. People will not judge you if you don't know something. Everyone needs a little bit of guidance from time to time.
5) Take a class- Sometimes, the only way to figure out how something works is by taking a class, especially if you're trying to learn design for the first time.
6) Keep a design journal- Design journals are great to keep track of your thoughts and ideas. Sometimes a notebook is all we need to find the answers we're looking for too.
7) Look outside of design- Design is not the only thing in life. Take a break from it all and look at things with a fresh perspective.
8) Practice makes perfect- Practice is the key to success. If there's something you want to be good at, all it takes is practice.
9) Give yourself room for growth- We are all works in progress. No one is ever completely done growing or learning something new about themselves.
10) Make sure you are passionate about what you do- If you don't love your work, it will show in the final product. Make sure that every project is something you care about and not just a job!
11) Enjoy yourself- Sometimes projects take longer than expected, but if we enjoy ourselves during the process, then even when our deadlines are tight, we'll be able to make it happen.
12) Don't compare yourself to others- Everyone has a different process and workflow, which means you can learn a lot from other designers even if they don't work the same way as you do. You're not competing with everyone else, just looking for ways that people have succeeded For more information click here https://www.reddit.com/r/webdesign/comments/qkqkt0/howdoistophatingdesign/.
