Has Adobe Flash Saw Its Final Days?

Web designers who are avid Netflix watchers tend to pay close attention to the depictions of website visits on films and series. There was a time when Hollywood portrayed the internet through a highly futuristic lens, particularly when it came to hacking scenes whereby actors entered virtual reality worlds in order to pull off highly improbable cyber heists. Times are changing, and now we have series such as "How to Sell Drugs Online (Fast)," a German production centered on the narcotics trade that unfolds in the Dark Web.

On a popular web design discussion forum, a member noticed that one of the websites at the center of the aforementioned Netflix series looked quite fancy, but not to the point of looking like a science fiction project. The member in question posted a short clip of the website, and other forum members quickly noticed that it was completely doable with WebGL, parallax scrolling, and the right Three.JS libraries.

The more seasoned forum members were not as impressed because they can remember the days of complex Flash animations before 2010; this was a time when extremely fancy web projects were the norm, but we all know what happened to this platform. What is interesting is that WebGL, Three.JS, Unity, and even Adobe After Effects can be served right on the browser, but we are not seeing too much of that being developed these days. Perhaps it's because there is a trend of making the web much simpler these days. This would likely be because of the fact that these high-end graphics can also make up a large portion of production costs, but it should be noted that you don't have to be a huge corporation in order to afford the necessary gear to create the sort of high-end animations seen in a movie or a show, as long as the right licensing agreements are in place.

While we can say with certainty that there is absolutely no need for Adobe Flash these days, it remains to be seen whether those days and sensibilities will return to the world of web design in the near future. For more information click here https://v.redd.it/579d6iuhobi71.
