Some Aesthetic Considerations for Web Design

Aesthetic web design standards tend to hold true both when a website is being made to sustain a company's business and when individual job-seekers merely need a site as an online space to host a portfolio of their own work. In both cases, there is a trend that discourages cluttered layouts forcing the user to carefully focus on a lot of disparate subjects grouped together within the same stretch of screen space.

A classic example of how simplistic layouts are more likely to be rewarded for refraining from needlessly dividing the user's attention is how Google's front page merely consists of a search bar at first, inviting the user to discover new material after inputting a query. Only when the query is entered does the search service populate the user's screen with lines of material that the user can safely be assumed to be interested and willing to sift through.

For many websites, there is some merit in aesthetically enclosing their distinct elements in box-like shapes, which can give the user the impression that the various portions of a given page are visually organized as part of a coherent whole. However, contemporary and professional web design strays away from this school of thought and eschews elements that leave the experience feeling "boxed in," opting for content and other elements to appear on decidedly open stretches of space. Web designers commonly allow their designs to rely purely on proximity between elements to indicate to users that they are related to each other.

That said, pseudo-minimalist design may not always be the best approach for someone trying to create their own portfolio site. If someone is looking over the online portfolios of dozens of individuals looking for a job and would base their hiring decisions on what the portfolios contain, then overly minimalist portfolio designs will likely fade quickly from their memory. If they would judge a portfolio to be "well-made," that would imply that enough substantial design exists to leave an impression. For many portfolio designers, a site that presents pieces of work as an animated slideshow strikes the best balance. For more information click here https://i.redd.it/zoz6ozbs4l171.png.
